Introduction to Wiesental (in Twisp, Washington) |
The following pictures are taken at Wiesental and the surrounding Methow Valley. Wiesental, which means Meadow Valley or Valley of the Meadows in German, is the name we have given to our vacation home near the town of Twisp in the Methow Valley. The Methow Valley is located on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in North Central Washington. We visit Wiesental regularly year around. These photographs capture the beauty of our retreat on the Twisp River and the surrounding valley throughout the four seasons. Wiesental consists of a 6-7 acre meadow at river level with three distinct beaches and two pine forest groves. We built a 1300 square foot home on an adjoining 3 acre bench overlooking the meadow, river and the surrounding area. Our home is bermed into the side of the hill with southern and eastern exposure, this provides moderate indoor temperatures during hot summer days and the four months of snow covered sub-freezing temperatures. Our activities include hiking, skiing and snow-shoeing around the Methow Valley as well as assisting mother nature in beautifying our land, not to mention just relaxing on the property and enjoying the beauty of nature. For us Wiesental is a place to relax and feel more at one with nature. We hope you enjoy the images we have tried to capture.
